In Japanese culture, it is said that anyone who folds one thousand paper cranes will have their heart’s desire come true. However it was the life of Sadako Sasaki that made the origami crane (折鶴 orizuru) become a symbol of PEACE.

On April 1, come learn about Sadako Sasaki, learn to make 折鶴 orizuruand share coffee and cookies with your fellow students! The UIC Wellness Center will take PEACE pledges and provide information on bullying.
