Dear UIC Community,
On April 13th, the UIC Pop-Up Pantry is hosting a fundraising cultural showcase. Its dual purpose is to raise funds to help support the operations of the Pop-Up Pantry and to display the art and talents of our own UIC Community. The Pop-Up Pantry was initiated last semester in order to combat issues faced by students dealing with homelessness and food insecurity on campus. Since then, hundreds of students have utilized this resource. An on campus food pantry allows us, as students of UIC, to support each other when money is tight and meals can be scarce. This resource is run primarily on food and monetary donations.
The Pop-Up Benefit: A Call to Action is aimed at educating the UIC community on the issue of homelessness, and raising funds to support the UIC Pop-Up Pantry. The evenings will consist of guest speakers on topics related to homelessness and food insecurity. There will be UIC students showcasing their various talents such as: spoken word artists, singers, rappers, and a dance group.
There will be a silent auction and art showcase for the evening with further information listed below:

Tickets: $5 for students & $10 for staff and faculty.

Student Art Showcase
If you are interested in selling your art, pieces can be sold during a silent auction at the event and the proceeds will go to the Pop-Up Pantry. You can also choose to sell your piece privately to make a profit from your hard work. Ideally, we would like art themed around food insecurity, hunger, homelessness, community, social issues, UIC, Chicago, etc. Pieces must be two dimensional or easy to move and display. Please submit your intent to contribute by Friday March 27th so we can begin preparations for the benefit.
This is a wonderful opportunity to use your art as a positive force in our community, and each of your contributions will play a vital role in the success of this event.
Silent Auction: As a part of this event, a silent auction will be held in which attendees can bid on donated items and all of the proceeds will go to supporting the Pop-Up Pantry. We ask that, if possible, you and your colleagues might collaborate to donate an item to be sold during this auction. These items can be creative or fundamental, and any donation within your capabilities would aid our cause immensely.
Tickets: Ticket will go on sale soon and can be purchased at the UIC bookstore in person or online.
