Apr 9 – UI Day at the Capitol Invitation

My name is Annie Li, and I am the President of the Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA), a registered student organization on campus that is sponsored by the University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA). As the president of SAA, I lead the Advocacy Committee that works with the UIAA’s advocacy program, Illinois Connection (IC). With IC’s support, SAA hosts letter writing campaigns (LWC) every semester, and markets and attends the annual UI Day at the Capitol in Springfield. This is when we invite students, faculty, alumni, and supporters to speak on behalf of the University and to ask our legislators to continue to support funding the UI.

This year’s UI Day at the Capitol (Lobby Day) will be held on April 9. Please visit www.ic.uillinois.edu/studentcapitol for more information about Lobby Day. This event will give students an opportunity to voice their concern and ask for support from their representatives. I am asking for your support by helping us to increase awareness of the event through e-mail and social media. Please send the invitation attached to your students and other contacts. Our target student participation from UIC is only 100. Transportation and meals will be provided to all participants, who will also be entered in our student raffle, sponsored by the Undergraduate Student Government.
